Home of Plane Finder, Ship Finder and more

It's a great app, but I'd love to know if the colours of the ships' icon is random, or does it relate to the class of vessel?  Is there a key somewhere?

Thanks,

Mat

Hi Matthew,

I will get this documented somewhere but here is the rough guide!

thanks lee, that's brilliant and very helpful. it would be fantastic if this were to be linked into the app in some way...

thanks,

matthew
You're next task wil be to be able to filter which types of ship one wants to see. This has to be one of the developments at sea on AIS receivers because, particularly in Southampton Water or the English Channel where there are many pleasure boats as well as commercial traffic, the pleasure boat user does not want his plotter screen cluttered up with boats travelling at low speeds, he needs to see traffic that is travelling faster and which may not have the manoeuvrability that the smaller boats might have.
