One for our friends Down Under. This DH 88 Comet racer won the 1934 MacRobertson Air Race from Mildenhall, Suffolk to Melbourne, Australia. Owned by the manager of The Grosvenor House hotel and flown by C W A Scott and T Campbell Black it saw off 17 other entries including other Comets and a brand new DC2 airliner.

This is the original (though restored several times) aircraft and lives with the Shuttleworth Collection in the UK. A replica flies in California. Shuttleworth is the UK Mecca for lovers of "The Golden Age" of aviation.
