Looks like a prime location you can get to in your little boat and good ships

Comment by Hans Fairhurst on July 1, 2012 at 2:41 Tnx Rick, it is a good spot for a boat/camera junkie. In a nutshell...Cockburn Sound is a large area just south of Fremantle abt 8 kms wide and protected by Garden Island. Gets a lot of bulkers for wheat, alumina, nickel, cement, fertiliser, mineral sand etc. and tankers for the oil refinery. Plus the Australian Marine Complex harbour gets a lot of heavy lifters, barges and tugs collecting prefab heavy mining gear for the oil, gas & iron ore up north. Some high-speed vessel building, a submarine & frigate base...and a convenient boat ramp to launch from. :o)
Thanks for that Hans sounds the tops,, only place near me 1hr away is Immingham near Hull get all the big bad boys unloading but cant graph them 2miles away from other side of Humber mouth and I wont tell you about heat haze, and looking into sun,, they are holding a openday for the port,,very rare as you will know, but dont know how much they will let you loose,, I like the coaster that come up to Goole 50miles from sea on the river Ouse you can walk thro public rights of way there over locks "Brill",, might have so pics on my page,,I came to this site 5yrs ago when only 900 pics,, but my wife has dementure and intrest fained but had a look for old times sake, glad I did,, into all sorts if it floats, flys, or just got wheels,, not to mension wildlife,,, well i can smell my sausages burning,, Bye Rick....
