We are still looking at this and the mac is an area that the receiver manufacturers are starting to look at. One of the options is indeed like the AIS and remove the computer element completely.

"I have a home weather station that runs off a little network appliance. This sort of setup would be ideal!
Have a look at www.meteohub.de for the weather station.
Something based on a SheevaPlug would be ideal as it has very low power…"
