If flying down then-
If landing 27L take the tube or free bus to Hatton Cross Station (southwest corner of LL). Across the road south is a petrol station and just along from that is a playing field. Any sort of nice day spotters/photographers will be lined up along the far hedge.
If landing 27R you need a bus out onto the northern perimeter road. Long walk then but there are places near end of 27R near a group of industrial units where you can stand and get shots.
If landing 09L then get free transfer to Terminal 5. Leaving the terminal on the ground floor turn right and walk out keeping right. You will see on the left a bus lane to walk through onto dual carriage way at roundabout. Look left and you'll see 09L approach lights. Usually cars parked along that stretch. Further down you'll get to bridge to T5 for cars. People sit on the hill next to this bridge.
If driving -
Same places as above but watch where you park. Traffic wardens are quite zealous!
If taking off 27L there is an area on southern perimeter for take off shots near Esso garage. Suggest park in Stanwell Village and walk through.
I'll keep an eye on this blog for questions if you have any. Best to get extended area London A-Z and have look at that before you travel!
