As a result of the bad weather around the UK, the ferry from Rosslare (Ireland) to Fishguard (Wales), Stena Europe has been stuck in the Irish Sea since leaving Rosslare yesterday.
The ferry left Rosslare at 09:00 yesterday and headed for Fishguard but when a few miles north of Fishguard they abandoned the approach to the port as they were unable to berth, due to the bad weather. So, off they went for a detour within Cardigan Bay, returning for a second attempt 3 hours later. From AIS it would seem they came very close to berthing but again abandoned it and set off for a night of steaming up and down Cardigan Bay. As I write (06:30) she is still 45 miles north of Fishguard, steaming away from Fishguard. And the weather doesn't look too clever either, with a forecast of 40mph gusts, similar to yesterday's numbers.
Meanwhile, the poor passengers who left Ireland for a 45 mile, 3 hour trip over to Wales are stuck!
