The good news:
Tomorrow, December 27th, will see the inauguration of Etihad's A380 maiden flight from Abu Dhabi to London. The aircraft, A6-APA, will begin the daily flight from Abu Dhabi on flight EY11. Hurrah!
The bad news:
Sadly, flight EY11 arrives at Heathrow at 06:35. Boo!
To make matters worse, the return flight, EY12, is due to depart at 09:15. Daylight, yes. But on runway 27R so not so clever for photographing.
Can't win them all, I suppose!
A few minutes ago, I heard Avianca N968AV pass overhead near my house.
When I looked at Planefinder a few minutes later, I was surprised to see it had not climbed above 8,000ft and had done a U turn over Fawley.
Currently doing circuits over Southampton, although not squawking an emergency.

Is this an aircraft with some problems?
United flight UA28, N59053, is making race track shpeas over the Isle of Wight just now.
It has made something like 8 or 9 circuits so far, below 12,000ft. Not squawking an emergency although it would look as if he is dumping fuel, preparing for a return to LHR.
