Some years ago the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight painted their Spitfire Vb in Nth Africa/Med Theatre scheme seen here. I believe it is now in a D-Day period scheme which is more accurate as the aircraft took part in that operation.

This Spitfire was involved in an unusual, and well known, incident in Feb 1945 when the female mechanic who was holding the tail down as the aircraft taxied to the runway in high winds failed to dismount before the pilot took off. Knowing something wasn't quite right the pilot made a circuit and landed to find a rather shaken young lady clinging to the tail! More details are on the BBMF website.
