Worth noting... this is the southernmost lighthouse on the Washington (US) shore... the landmass on the far right is within the state of Oregon, with the Columbia River between.

This remains an active lighthouse, and the building to the right of the light itself is normally occupied by USCG personell keeping an eye on the conditions of the Columbia River bar.

  • Amazing photo Scott. One of the finest I’ve ever seen!
    • Thank you very much, David. It's hard to make a really bad shot there, and the weather and waves were being especially cooperative that afternoon. These waves are nowhere near the largest that can be seen from this vantage point, but I can't be there every day!
  • There are rumors of gusts getting close to 120 mph (200 kph?) there last night. It was a very rowdy night in this region!
  • That is brilliant Scott - certainly not incompatible - I have put on loads of lighthouses and have thanked Mark (Pinkfroot) who said no problem. That shot is quite awesome - the wave follows the rock curves - super
  • Excellent photo Scott. Great location too
