SANDØY

The Sandøy is the first fully electric ferry for Brevik Fergeselskap and will operate within the waters of the Eidangerfjorden. The ferry service connects Brevik with Sandøya and Bjørkøya.

It is completely emission-free and entirely powered by battery power (1300 kWh). In addition to electric propulsion, another unique feature is a TES (thermal energy storage) system to provide heat.

Great shot Jochem & good info. The ferries look the same design as in Amsterdam?

  Thanks Howard, yes it is almost the same design. The Amsterdam ferries are also made by this company. If you look at my previous photo of the Matador you can see it lying on the quay, which is also for Amsterdam.
