This is the former Australian Navy vessel HMAS Brunei, she was a designated Landing Craft Heavy (LCH). Albeit she had a max speed of 10.5kts, down hill and with sails.... lol She and her five sister vessels were very hard working of nearly 40 years service. When these were decommisioned two were gifted to Papua New Guinea Defence Force and the remaining four were gifted to the Phillipine Navy.
Here the Brunei sits high and dry out of the water on Triangular Island in the Great Barrier Reef, this was able to be achieved by using a radiator cooling system (much like a car) instead of sea water pumping through the cooling system. No more than four days would be allowed, this was due to requiring fresh water to be made through the reverse osmosis procedure which requires minimum depths to operate safely. i enjoyed my 3.5yrs onboard the Brunei. With a crew of 15-18 it was tight. A much different naval experience than being on a front line warship.
