  • great info Mats - Thanks
  • Great Mats . Who is the person on the statue?
    • Thanks Jack. The tower is part of the Gothenburg Maritime Museum and the bronze statue at the top of the tower is officially called "Woman by the Sea", but is popularly called "The Sailor's Wife". The tower was erected in 1933, in memory of the Swedish sailors who lost their lives aboard Swedish merchant ships during the First World War. The names of the 690 sailors who perished and the 98 ships that sank are inscribed in the base of the tower.
    • So Sad, thanks for the info Mats.
