I really didn't see this as I made the shot. I was kind of mesmerized by the dual rudders. As I processed it, I realized that that dark spot was unusually dark, and when I dragged the shadows up, I could see the distinctive "kiss" of a too-fast tug's bow.
Turns out that that's exactly what it was.
