The river cruiser Queen of the West is just exiting the lock system at The Dalles dam. The platforms visible just aft of the ship are dip-net salmon fishing platforms built and used by local Native American tribes. The dam submerged Celilo Falls, a fishing and gathering spot critical to native nations throughout the region.
