SD Suzanne entering the Solent at 14:30hrs on 16th March, 2011 to assist HMS Albion into Portsmouth Harbour.
SD Suzanne is a small, purpose designed azimuthing stern drive (ASD) tug built for Serco Marine Services by Damen Shipyards. This is part of a 29 vessel package required under Serco's support contract with the Royal Navy at HM Naval Bases in Portsmouth, Devonport and the Clyde.
The vessel has the capability of assisting surface vessels and submarines, transporting up to 12 passengers and carrying a deck cargo. It is also able to transfer fresh water and provide fire fighting and water spray facilities.
The tradition of giving the UK’s Royal Dockyard's smaller tugs ‘Girls' names has been perpetuated by Serco Marine Services.

Propulsion: 2x Caterpillar 3508B diesel main engines generating a total of 2,000bhp.
Each main engine is coupled to a Rolls Royce US 155CP highly manoeuvrable propulsion unit designed to give precise control of thrust in any direction.

Bollard pull: 24 tonnes.
