Sjövärnskårens job is to recruit both adults and youth as a complement to the Swedish Navy. The education gives basic training in seamanship for a future military training and/or officer training.
Sjövärnskåren are also available to support the Swedish Coast Guard in major emergencies and disasters. Sjövärnskåren also participate in the public exchanges and cooperation with similar operations in other countries.
