She's been homeported here for more than a year... I've paddled around her, shot her at a distance while docked, but I've nevery been in the right place to catch her underway before!

  • Nice photo Scott. Interesting vessel. Different to the usual white and red cutters
    • She's a buoy-tender. "It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it!"
      A white hull would look even grimier than her black hull paint would. I think that buoy-tenders have been painted black since at least the 1930s, possibly earlier than that.
      Elm's area of responsibility covers several hundreds of miles of coastline and rivers, maintaining buoys and other ATONs.
