Whitby Lighthouse

Ellesmere Port - Manchester Ship Canal / River Mersey 15/4/22

  Originally used for guiding the ships from the River Mersey into the Shropshire Union Canal (1796). Lighthouse reconstructed 1880. After the Manchester Ship Canal was built (1894) this severed the direct link and made the lighthouse redundant.
