The ship Yacht Express in the port of Arbatax, on the island of Sardinia in Italy is shown here loading one of 10 modules for the construction of an oil refinery in Paramaribo in Suriname, South America. Yacht Express is owned by Dockiwse Yacht Transport, a Dutch company based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and is kept busy by carrying privately owner yachts across the Atlantic. She uses the float on float off technique of loading yachts whereby the ships sinks down to a point where the yachts can motor in through the stern, positioned on stands and then pump the deck dry. This is a very safe and quick way of transporting yachts from a to b, a much safer and quicker way then hoisting them on deck. This is Yacht Express' first heavy lift voyage not carrying yachts and I am sure we will see her doing a lot more of these type of assignments. She is so well suited to this type of work as she is able to adjust her draft due to the tide and the load coming on board due to her ballast ing system to keep her level with the height of the dock or quay.
