The Swedish Maritime Administration owns and operates five vessels for surveying. Petter Gedda is the smallest vessel and is used in shallow areas.
The vessel is named after Petter Gedda (1661-1697), a cartographer who was commissioned to collect information to create charts of the Swedish west coast.
