    • I think it depends on your point of reference. Those tiny-looking arches at the top of the bridge piers offer ample clearance (and I do mean AMPLE) for any normal road-going vehicle. It's a huge bridge, but only has two lanes of traffic.
      I think it's the original "Bridge to Nowhere"... that's what its detractors called the project in the early 1960s, claiming that it wouldn't be used. It was a toll bridge until it was paid for, and the tollbooths were shuttered and eventually removed several years ahead of schedule.
